Camp Rocky – Outdoor Environmental Adventures for Youth, is a week-long camp held in the mountains near Divide, Colorado. It is for those who love the outdoors and are interested in learning about our environment and natural resources. It’s open to 8th grade graduates who are under the age of 20. Camp Rocky is July 6-12, 2014.

Students will choose from one of five “Resource Fields” for their focus during the first half of the camp. Recreation Management: Teaches you about managing natural areas for human recreation, building trails, orienteering and much more. Forest Management: Teaches about forest health, determining the age of a tree, and how fire can be beneficial to the forest. Soil and Water Conservation: Participants will learn about all important watersheds and create their own river. Different soil types will also be studied. Rangeland Science: Students will study the significance of rangeland and its importance in providing habitat and food for all kinds of wildlife.

Participants at Camp Rocky come from all over Colorado. Get to know some new friends, make some memories, learn and have a blast! For more information check out the website http://www.coloradoacd.org/camp-rocky.html or call Vernon Lerette at 562-3011.
